"This Type of Guru"

My first experience meditating with Anjali Ma from Hariharananda Kriya Yog Kolkata Dhyan Kendra, was during my first meditation class in Kolkata in 2010. 

It was a small group of about 30 Kriyabans in a small room in Kolkata.

At the end of my Kriya Yoga guidance, I became aware of a very distinguished, radiant, beautiful, grayed hair lady sitting in front of me beaming a quiet blissful light from her face and smile.

She sat there quietly blissfully smiling and Yogacharya Chanchal Roy came over to introduce her to me. 

"This is Anjali Ma, who received kriya initiation from Baba Hariharananda in 1964." I had tears in my eyes meeting her and seeing her love and devotion to Baba. 

I was humbled to be able present myself as a teacher of kriya yoga and to represent Baba Hariharananda to this group of kriyabans who meditated with Baba for years in his homeland. 

That first meditation with the Kolkata group was really beautiful and "Baba's presence was very strong during the meditation. "Everyone felt it and was uplifted."

She told me that Baba Hariharananda had told her to stick with Chanchal Baba in the future and that Chanchal Baba is a "great yogi".

Last meeting with Anjali Ma 2020 Kolkata 

During one of my most recent trips to India, I had the good fortunate to privately meet with Anjali Ma, at Chanchal Baba's house and Chanchal's wife, served us a beautiful vegetarian meal of "Kolkata Biryani."

Chanchal Baba and Dr. Summit Baba translated Anjali's bengali into English, so I could understand her. 

She gave me some personal instructions regarding Kriya practice and told some stories about Gurudev.

"One day Baba was invited to speak at a small poor rural village" she said.

"The village had an open latrine which everyone would use. In preparation for Baba's talk they built a small enclosure and platform so Baba could use the latrine privately before he gave his talk."

"Baba went inside the enclosure and it collapsed into the latrine and he is covered in the dung."

"Everyone is mortified and crying, absolutely shocked and dismayed that this happened."

"Baba is laughing, telling everyone it is ok, to give him a cloth to clean himself and it will be alright." 

"I am so happy, you don't understand, these insects and worms in the latrine have been waiting many lifetimes to come in contact with the Guru" 

"I am so happy that they have finally have a chance"

Anjali Ma, tells me: "This type of Guru", "You understand ?, The depth of his love."

During another visit to Kolkata, Anjali Ma wanted to tell me something privately and asked a disciple to translate her Bengali into English, so I could understand her message. 

Anjali Ma told me "her Kriya is Love." 

A simple message, but possibly the most important teaching about Kriya Yoga practice. 

"Kriya is Love." (Kriya Love)
