Nature of the deed - Will and appointment of Trustee.

Condition - That I, Swami Satyananda Giri, who came to Puri to take part in the Annual function of the Karar Ashram, was charmed to see the nice management of Karar Ashram and the love and affection of Swami Hariharananda for the people of Orissa and their reciprocal love, affection and respect for him.

The Karar Ashram at Swargadwar, Puri, was founded by Srimat Swami great guru Sri Yukteswar Giri Maharaj in 1903 at Puri Swargadwar and was named Karar Ashram. As no person stayed here, in charge, this Karar Ashram, now known as Yogada Ashram, became non-functional and defunct. Considering this Yukteswar Giri Maharaj, who was the president of the Sadhusabha, executed a trust deed for the Karar Ashram in 1921 and at the same time appointed me (the executant) the chief of the Karar Ashram, i.e., Karar Ashram Swami.

Sri Hariharananda Giri, in whose favor this deed is executed was known as Sri Rabinarayan Bhattacharya before he became sanyasi and left the household cult. Afterwards, he took diksha (initiation*) from me and after being anointed sanyasi by Sri Sri Shankaracharya Bharati Krishna Tirtha, Puri, he became known as Swami Hariharananda Giri. After the death of Srimat Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri Maharaj, Paramahansa Yogananda, his best disciple, became President of the Sadhusabha in 1936 and appointed me assistant Sadhusabhapati and Mr. Prabhash Chandra Ghosh (cousin brother, i.e. son of Yogananda's paternal uncle) as the secretary. (*note: Third Kriya initiation)

Afterwards in 1936, after the death of Srimat Swami Yukteswar Giri Maharaj, Paramahnsa Yogananda took me to Ranchi Ashram and offered me its responsibility and appointed Swami Sevananda Giri as chief of Puri Ashram, for its smooth management. Two years after, Sri Hariharananda, in whose favor this deed is executed, left his home (household cult) permanently and came to Puri Karar Ashram and looked after everything of the ashram. Being charmed with his knowledge, personality, devotion to religious practices and humane altitude, Paramahansa Yogananda Giri and myself appointed him assistant chief of the Puri Ashram.

After this , in 1949, when Swami Sevananda Giri retired from the responsibility of Puri Karar Ashram, both Paramahansa Yogananda and myself appointed Swami Hariharananda Giri chief of Puri Karar Ashram and entrusted him with all the responsibility of its management. Many people from Orissa as well from other parts of India were attracted to the ashram because of the devoted yogic practices, love, affection, friendly gestures and humane behavior of Swami Hariharananda. Swami Hariharananda made all round developments of the ashram and converted it to a beautiful and heavenly surrounding from its dilapidated and ignoble state.  Because of the efforts of Swami Hariharananda, thousands of people of Orissa and outside visit this Karar Ashram at Puri. I have realized that many highly qualified people and common men have been initiated into Kriya Yoga by Swami Hariharananda and have been attracted towards Yogada and Hariharananda. This has charmed many people including Mr. Prabhash Chandra Ghosh and myself.

I am, now, the president of the Sadhusabha of the ashram founded by Sri Yukteswar Giri Maharaj, it is my earnest desire that Swami Hariharananda Giri be the president of the Sahusabha at Karar Ashram, Puri after my death. He has well-organized the ashram through his own endeavor and has induced divine love and love for Guru tradition in the hearts of many Oriyas and Indians, by initiating them into Kriya Yoga. I am fully convinced that he should be the president of the Sahusabha of the ashram and should be established permanently with the full responsibility of the ashram.

I came to Puri Ashram from a long distance and the 68th anniversary function of the ashram on the Vernal Equinox day, i.e. , on the 22nd March 1971 was properly celebrated under my president-ship, as the president of the Sadhusabha of the ashram. I was exceedingly charmed to talk and discuss with five hundred people who were present in an august meeting here, on this occasion and was specially attracted towards Swami Hariharananda. So , with a healthy body and mind, without anybody's inducement, voluntarily, I accept Sri Hariharananda as a trustee and declare that Swami Hariharananda in whose favor this deed is executed, can become the Sadhusabhapathi of the Sadhusabha of the ashram after my death. So this will and document of Appointment of the Trustee is executed in order that it will useful at the time of need. The twenty fifth day of March, nineteen hundred seventy one. Dated: 25.3.1971

Read over  and explained to me and found correct.
