" Master of Kriya Yoga"

Kriya Yoga Master Swami Hariharananda Giri

For twenty years I heard Baba say: "Nirvakalpa Samadhi " is the certificate one must have, to say they are a "Master of Kriya Yoga".  The ability to enter and exit the "pulselessness - breathlessness" state of "Nirvakalpa Samadhi" at will, was the standard established by the the Kriya Yoga Lineage of Masters.

Baba Hariharananda was a Samadhi Master, like Paramhansa Yogananda, Swami SriYukteswar and Lahiri Mahasay. 

They achieved the ability to enter into  Nirvakalpa-Samadhi state at will thru the techniques of Kriya Yoga.

In the original edition of Baba Hariharananda's "Bhagavad Gita", one  of the original editors states, that Baba told him:

 "Everything I am as a God-realized master, was from the scientific practice of Kriya Yoga"

Not only did he achieve this advanced state of self-realization, at the young age of 41, he lived with it for over 50 years, traveling around the globe teaching sincere seekers, how they could also achieve this state, thru the Kriya Yoga techniques.

When Paramhansa Yogananda heard that “Brahmachari Robinarayan’ (young baba) had achieved this state, Yogananda sent his brother with a doctor to Kolkata, to witness Baba in Nirvakalpa- Samadhi, because Yogananda was in USA and wanted to know if it was true.

Many times, personally, I heard Baba recall the experience.

Baba told how the doctor arrived with an incredulous attitude demanding:

 “Hurry up and show us, I have patients waiting in the clinic"

 The Doctor didn’t believe that it was possible, to be in a state of "breathlessness -pulselessness". 

Baba said that he took them into a private room and meditated:

“My Samadhi state prevailed and then the doctor became my disciple”. 

The Doctor and Yogananda’s brother, asked Baba, what he experienced, while he was in the “breathlessness-pulselessness state?”

Baba explained that “he becomes absorbed in a beautiful golden white light and the only awareness he has is God” … he told them the color was like the skin of a banana.

During the 50 years after realizing this state of Nirvakalpa-Samadhi, Baba only demonstrated it a few times in public, for the benefits of his sincere disciples. 

Privately, several of his sincere disciples, experienced Baba Hariharananda in this state.

Several doctors and neurologists, witnessed Baba in this state and became his disciples. 

They witnessed something that their medical training could not explain and wanted to learn how to do it. 

"Practice of Kriya Yoga simply opens an apparently sealed way to divinity, that resides in the human body. 

Once you discover this reality, all outward mantras and worship become futile.

The Kriya process quickens the realization of the formless in the form and frame of the body"*
